House Bill 6370, introduced in September by Rep. Robert Gosselin, R-Troy, would allow taxpayers to voluntarily contribute money to their local school district via their local property tax bills. Taxpayers desiring to donate funds could check a box on their tax bill to donate extra funds to local schools.
School districts could use the additional funds only for general operating expenses.
The bill was referred to the House Tax Policy Committee.
