MIDLAND — The Mackinac Center for Public Policy announces the release of a 6-part video series aimed at simplifying how school funding works in Michigan. The series animates findings from the 16-page report, How School Funding Works in Michigan, authored by Ben DeGrow, director of education policy at the Mackinac Center.
Each of the six explanative videos are approximately two minutes long, highlighting individual components of school funding sources meant to provide greater clarity for taxpayers on the complicated mechanics of the state education system. These videos can be found on the Mackinac Center’s YouTube page.
Neither the report nor the videos attempt to analyze the effectiveness of school funding, but rather examine the process for funding Michigan’s public schools. These videos are a public resource to be accessed by anyone who wishes to have a deeper understanding of how school funding works.
