You’re invited to a special screening of the Moving Picture Institute original feature film Freedom Hair, starring Simona Brown (Behind Her Eyes, The Night Manager), Jeremie Harris (Legion, A Walk Among the Tombstones), and Sophia Bush (One Tree Hill, Chicago P.D.).
Written and directed by Oscar-nominated Dianne Houston, Freedom Hair is based on the inspiring true story of Melony Armstrong. The film centers around Melony, a determined mother who starts a natural hair braiding business to achieve financial independence but faces unexpected challenges from a powerful cosmetology cartel and the State of Mississippi.
This inspirational drama highlights how government regulation, red tape, and corporate strangleholds create barriers that can make the American Dream unreachable, especially for those most vulnerable in our society.
