The well-known quip — "It’s the economy, stupid" — from strategist James Carville was a reminder to candidates and campaign workers that amidst all the noise, voters ultimately care most about one thing. In this election year, a year that will be filled with personalities, wedge issues and distractions, this event will refocus our attention on the economy.
But what is "the economy"? What indicators do voters care about most? How do cities, states and countries achieve strong economic growth — and what causes it to decline?
Join us for an insightful discussion about economic policy from economists Jonathan Williams and Michael LaFaive. They will take a look at how the economy is really doing across the board, discuss what the research says about growth and share their thoughts on policies politicians should pursue — and that voters should demand from their candidates.
Whether you're a policymaker, business leader, student or concerned citizen, this event offers a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of economic policy and its implications for prosperity. Don't miss out on this informative and thought-provoking discussion.
