Elizabeth Posthumus serves as the director of donor communications at the Mackinac Center, drawing on more than two decades of experience in consulting, government, campaigns and politics. In this role, Elizabeth drafts executive communications that convey the impact of the Center’s current work.
Prior to joining the Mackinac Center, Elizabeth led her own communications consulting firm, where she advised national and international clients on public relations, media relations, external relations and crisis and issue management.
Elizabeth began her career at The White House in 2003 as a member of the George W. Bush Administration. She also served as Senior Advisor to the Assistant Attorney General for Strategic Communications at the U.S. Department of Justice; worked for leading trade associations including the Electric Power Supply Association (EPSA) and the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA); worked at DCI Group, one of the nation’s largest public affairs consulting firms; and worked on numerous political campaigns.
Elizabeth was raised in West Michigan and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. After graduating, she spent time in Washington, DC and Columbia, SC before returning to Grand Rapids in 2017. She loves to travel and is probably planning her next adventure with her husband, three children and their beloved dog, Max.
