George Nastas III, Ph.D. is a marketing, finance, and economics advisor. He manages five investment portfolios of aggressive growth, blue chip, and income equities, growth mutual funds, and municipal bonds in taxable and tax-deferred accounts. He trained industrial marketing executives in market planning, market management, and the marketing process. He advised and trained marketing executives on developing more effective market plans.
He has conducted economic analysis on the impact of proposed federal and state legislation on the business and economic climate in Michigan. He has advised and worked with business groups and Michigan legislators regarding improvements to Michigan' s business and economic climate. He conducted marketing and tax policy research, the conclusions of which were published by the CATO Institute and the Mackinac Center for Public Policy.
He has written extensively on tax policy as it affects investment decisions, economic growth, and job creation. His articles have appeared in Better Investing, Business Forum, Consumers' Research, The Detroit News, Human Events, Insight, The Lansing State Journal, Marketing News, Michigan Forward, The New York Times, Oakland Press, Orange County Register, Personal Financial Planning, Sacramento Bee, Tax Notes, USA TODAY, and The Washington Times.
He taught marketing principles, marketing management, marketing research, and sales management for more than ten years at the University of Michigan (Flint Campus) and Michigan State University. He also served as Assistant to the Dean for Academic Affairs in the Graduate School of Business Administration, Michigan State University.
Nastas was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Business Administration (Marketing major, and minors in Finance, Statistics and Research Design, and Economics) from the Graduate School of Business Administration, Michigan State University. In addition, he earned the Master of Business Administration degree in Marketing from the Graduate School of Business Administration and the Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the College of Engineering, Michigan State University.
He is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the National Business Honorary; Alpha Mu Alpha, the American Marketing Association Honorary; Tau Beta Pi, the National Engineering Honorary; and Pi Tau Sigma, the National Mechanical Engineering Honorary.
He is professional member of the American Marketing Association, Businesses and Associations f or a Strong Economy, Mackinac Center for Public Policy (Board of Scholars), and the Michigan Chamber of Commerce (Tax Committee).
He has extensive international experience as a result of travel in Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungry, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and Yugoslavia. 08/96
Nastas is a Mackinac Center for Public Policy Adjunct Scholar and member of its Board of Scholars. His public policy interests include federal and Michigan tax policy and their affect on consumers and investors, economic growth and job creation, and wealth creation, accumulation, and protection; and the affect of public university competition on Michigan small businesses.
