Manny Lopez was managing editor of Michigan Capitol Confidential from 2012 to 2014. Previously he was opinion page editor at The Detroit News. He also spent time with The News as an editorial writer and as automotive editor, winning awards from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers and other local and national organizations. As auto editor, his team broke national news stories about the GM and Chrysler bankruptcies. Lopez also spent four years as associate editor of the Kansas City Business Journal before joining The News. He holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Kansas and a master's degree in economics from the University of Detroit Mercy.
