Until 2012, Melinda J. Simon was event planner and database manager for the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, a nonprofit free-market think tank in Midland, Mich.
Prior to working at the Center, Simon served as a major gifts specialist at the American Cancer Society and as an administrative assistant at Central Michigan University. She has also worked at for-profit firms, serving as a store manager at Jenny Craig Weight Loss Centres and as an administrative and operations assistant at Antimicrobial Specialists & Associates Inc.
Simon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in dietetics from Central Michigan University. Her interest in better health continues: In 2008, she ran a marathon as a member of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training, and the following year, she captained a team in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
