Expanding Medicaid is critical to the survival of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. Michigan legislators are being encouraged by the White House, Gov. Rick Snyder, hospitals and drug makers, along with other lobbyists to expand Michigan’s Medicaid program to 320,000 additional Michigan residents in 2014. The program would cover more than 470,000 by 2021. This issue is being debated right now for next year’s state budget. A decision is expected in August. The purpose of this event is to examine the long-term implications and effects of such a move.
