Mackinac Center scholars are increasingly asked by school board members and taxpayers whether other districts in the state have chosen alternatives to costly insurance plans offered by the Michigan Education Special Services Association, a third-party insurance administrator affiliated with the Michigan Education Association.
Below is a list of stories about districts that have addressed this issue, which will be expanded as more districts do the same. The links are to the Michigan Education Digest, the Center’s weekly e-mail summary of important education news stories from around the state. You can go here to receive the Michigan Education Digest. We’ve also included links to other articles and studies on MESSA.
