DETROIT — Children will try their hands at business this weekend to see if they have what it takes to be the next Henry Ford or Hendrik Meijer.
The inaugural Detroit Children’s Business Fair takes place Saturday and will give young entrepreneurs the opportunity to create a business and sell a product or service. The public is encouraged to attend the fair to support children’s businesses and purchase items that will be for sale. Coffee, comic books, bottle gardens, candy and jewelry are among the items participants intend to sell.
Judges will provide valuable feedback to participants and award prizes to some businesses based on creativity, impressive presentation and other criteria.
The Detroit Children’s Business Fair is the first of its kind in the city and is co-hosted by the Mackinac Center for Public Policy and Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan.
