The Mackinac Center for Public Policy is filing a suit against the city of Westland for charging process fees for requests under Michigan's Freedom of Information Act, or FOIA. Copying fees charged by the city for public requests of information were ten times higher than the for-profit copy center across the street. Labor fees were more than double the median wage in the state of Michigan.
