The Mackinac Center just expanded its Michigan School Databases project by adding superintendent compensation and contracts to the mix. Also contained therein are copies of union contracts, detailed fiscal data and high school achievement information.
Based on this data, which all comes directly from the school districts, the average superintendent salary in Michigan is about $115,000. The average total compensation came out to $155,000.
Using the searchable and sortable Web tool, the public can easily find what each superintendent in the state is making, both in terms of salary and total compensation. The database makes comparing superintent pay by county or school district size simple too. A copy of each superintendent's individual contract is available.
