An Op-Ed by Jack McHugh, senior legislative analyst, and James Hohman, assistant director of fiscal policy, was featured in Sunday’s Detroit Free Press. The commentary, about Gov. Rick Snyder’s agenda and his willingness to take on “political careerists,” was also picked up by the Zanesville Times-Recorder in Ohio, which like the Free Press is owned by Gannett.
The Free Press will now carry commentary from Center analysts on a regular basis in its Sunday “News & Views” section. Free Press Editorial Page Editor Stephen Henderson, in a note introducing the new feature, said “You don’t get much more opposite from the Free Press editorial page’s position than the Mackinac Center …” but that “Smart discourse on important issues helps elevate the conversation and drives us closer to real solutions. My expectation is that the Mackinac Center will bring wonderful added value to these pages in that regard.”
