Day care owner Sherry Loar of Petoskey talks with WJR's Frank Beckmann about the forced unionization of child care providers. Though self-employed, Sherry is now a member of a union she did not invite into her home-based business. "My business is in my home," Sherry says. "What gives [the union] the right to think that they can come into my home?"
In the case Loar v. DHS, the Mackinac Center Legal Foundation is suing to end the illegal diversion of so-called "union dues" from state subsidy checks received by home-based day care providers who watch children from low-income families.
