Note: “Sacrificial” means the candidate has no chance of winning due to the district’s partisan composition.
Districts 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10, Detroit
All the Republicans in these Districts are “sacrificial lambs” who have no chance of winning. The Democrats who will be the next representatives include: An almost-successful former Detroit city council candidate, a former city council member, a former “local government administrator,” the vice president of a “homeless outreach” entity, a theater manager who is also an adjunct professor, and a “transportation planner” who is also a former city council staffer.
District 14, Wayne County
The Democrat is the cousin of the current representative. The sacrificial Republican is an insurance representative.
District 15, Wayne County
Both candidates are current Dearborn city council members.
District 17, Wayne County
The Democrat is a four-term former Wayne County Commission member and government mental health agency appointee. The sacrificial Republican is a “print shop broker.”
District 20, Wayne County
The Republican is a manufacturers representative and the Democrat is a school board member.
District 26, Oakland County
The Democrat is the executive director of a local economic development and tourism agency. The Republican is a business owner and “former attorney.”
District 30, Macomb County
The Democrat is a Macomb County commissioner, and the Republican is the president of a staffing and recruiter company.
District 31, Macomb County
The Democrat is a former mayor and county charter commission member. The sacrificial Republican is a bricklayer and mason contractor.
District 33, Macomb County
The Republican owns a trucking and excavation company and is the past president of a statewide business association. The Democrat is a design engineer.
District 35, Oakland County
The Democrat is a former school board member and the sacrificial Republican a teacher in a private school.
District 46, Oakland County
The Republican is a two-term Oakland County Commissioner and former township trustee. The sacrificial Democrat ran for the state Senate in 2006.
District 49, Genesee County
The Democrat is the former president of the Flint city council; the sacrificial Republican is the vice-chair of a township planning commission.
District 50, Genesee County
The Democrat is a mayor, and the sacrificial Republican is a retired military member.
District 52, Washtenaw County
The Democrat is a township trustee and former planning commission member. The Republican is a county commissioner and former city council member.
District 53, Washtenaw County
The Democrat is a county commissioner, and the sacrificial Republican is a salesman.
District 54, Washtenaw County
The Democrat is a community college board member and former township supervisor. The sacrificial Republican is described as a “tea party activist.”
District 55, Washtenaw and Monroe Counties
The Democrat is a school board member and union official; the Republican was once a public school business manager.
District 57, Lenawee County
The Democrat is a mayor who has been an elected official for 25 years; the Republican is a staffer for a GOP state senator.
District 60, Kalamazoo County
The Democrat is a city commissioner; the sacrificial Republican is a pastor.
District 61, Kalamazoo County
The Republican is city council member and the Democrat owns a tutoring business.
District 65, Eaton, Jackson and Lenawee Counties
The Republican is a former school board member and the Democrat is a former county treasurer. go
District 71, Eaton County
The Republican is a former legislative staffer and the Democrat a social worker.
District 72, 73, 77 and 87, Kent County
The Democrats in these solidly GOP Districts are all sacrificial lambs. The Republicans include a former school board president, a township supervisor, a former public school teacher who is on the GOP county executive committee, and a former legislative staffer who is the daughter of a former Lieutenant Governor.
District 75, Kent County
The Democrat is a county commissioner and the Republican a business owner.
District 79, Berrien County
The Republican is a congressional staffer and the Democrat operates a PR company.
District 80, Allegan and Van Buren Counties
The Republican is a former congressional and state Senate staffer, and the Democrat is a county commissioner.
District 81, St. Clair County
The Republican is a termed-out Michigan state Senator and former House member; no information is available on the sacrificial Democrat.
District 83, St. Clair and Sanilac Counties
The Republican is a former school board member and the Democrat is a former school superintendant and principal.
District 85, Clinton and Shiawassee Counties
The Republican is a Realtor, and the Democrat is former legislative staffer.
District 87, Barry and Ionia County
The Republican is a county commissioner, and the sacrificial Democrat is a business owner.
District 89, Ottawa County
The Republican is a legislative staffer, and the sacrificial Democrat is a Christian school teacher and chair of the county Democratic Party.
District 91, Muskegon and Ottawa Counties
The Republican is former township trustee, school board member and GOP national committee member. The Democrat is a school board member.
District 92, Muskegon County
The Democrat is a social worker and the sacrificial Republican is self employed.
District 95, Saginaw County
The Democrat is an assistant attorney general and former legislative staffer, corrections worker and public school teacher. The sacrificial Republican is on the board of a county child abuse council.
District 96, Bay County
The Democrat is a third-term mayor and former county commissioner, and the sacrificial Republican a county commissioner and public school administrator.
District 97, Arenac, Clare and Gladwin Counties
The Democrat is a township supervisor, and the Republican is a feed store owner.
District 99, Isabella and Midland Counties
The Democrat is an attorney and the Republican a township deputy treasurer.
