Every week, MichiganVotes.org sends a report to newspapers and TV stations showing how just the state legislators in each publication's service area voted on the most important and interesting bills and amendments of the past seven days. Senate Bill 682, Authorize more specialty license plates, passed in the Senate (27 to 9)
To remove the current limit on the number of state-sponsored fundraising license plates, and authorize a "bicentennial of the war of 1812" specialty license plate, with the net premium revenue going to Mackinac State Park.

Senate Bill 1163, Concur with House version of 2010-2011 school aid budget, failed in the Senate (15 to 21)
To concur with the House version of the fiscal 2010-2011 school aid budget. This would appropriate $12.948 billion, compared to $12.823 billion for FY 2009-2010. The bill would increase the per-pupil foundation grant by $65 compared to the current year amount (following an "executive order" reduction in Oct. 2009). The vote sends the bill to a House-Senate conference committee to work out the differences.

Senate Bill 1154, House verson of 2010-2011 state Department of Education budget, passed in the House (61 to 44), failed in the Senate (15 to 21)
The House version of the Fiscal Year 2010-2011 state Department of Education budget. This would appropriate $132.8 million, compared to $112.8 enrolled for the previous year. Of this, $93.9 million will come from the federal government, compared to $76.4 million the previous year. The House adds $17 million in federal money for programs created to make the state eligible for federal "Race to the Top" grants.

Senate Bill 1097, Authorize school district scholarship programs using Indian casino money, passed in the House (97 to 7), passed in the Senate (36 to 0)
To allow school districts to establish college scholarship programs for students paid for with gambling revenue the state receives through compacts with Indian casinos.
