About this audio file: On March 1, 2006, Jack McHugh, legislative analyst for the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, was a guest on the “Frank Beckmann Show” on WJR-760AM in Detroit. During the interview, McHugh discussed how the state could eliminate the Single Business Tax and forego the $1.855 billion in annual revenue the tax generates (out of a total state budget of over $40 billion). McHugh outlined several ways the state could save money through improved efficiencies and common-sense reforms that would not negatively affect vulnerable populations, and that few citizens would even notice. The clip is 13 minutes, 42 seconds.
